2021 and Still vaulting!

I promise I'll upload a better picture later on next week. Most are on my phone these days.

It's been a long time since I made any posts. I think it has been almost 4 yrs maybe. Life has carried on and I am still vaulting. I am currently located in CA training with a new team for the last 2 yrs. Now at the canter level in vaulting. A lot has changes since the last time I posted about my adventures.

There have been many competition before the pandemic and most were at trot level before that. As when I came out to CA I started canter in Spring of 2019. I was only able to do a few barrel competitions since I wasn't ready for canter comp and freestyle yet. The pandemic hit, and I had some health issues that set me back in training for a few months last summer.

My docs have advised me and cleared me to continue with my sports. I final did my first canter classes this spring over the Easter weekend in the Bay Area. I know what I need to improve on, but I should be proud of myself for making it this far in my sport.

Everyone faces their own setbacks and not everyone moves up in skills and levels in the same way. I have learned to never compare myself to others in my sport. I admire many vaulters out there and many that are on my team that have been to world's level.

It's been a long and difficult journey for me with injuries, health, and personal setback. But that is life and that is sports as an athlete. Never compare your progress to others around you. You should be proud how far you have come and keep you goals in mind you want to achieve. I know I have a long way to go. But I'll keep going as long as I am able to. Just remember it is ok to take a break if you need to get things together. We all have those times and there is no shame in it. You can always come back harder and stronger.

I know I have a lot of improvements I need to make with my strength, jumping and working back into my flexibility. Getting older can suck, but your age does not define you. You define your age. So remember to keep those muscles flexible and enjoy the process. The journey will teach you a lot.
